"This we know. The earth does not belong to us, we belong to earth.
This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family,
All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons and daughters of earth.
We did not weave the web of life, We are merely a strand in it.
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves..."
~Chief Seattle

My name is Sharon Andrew, I am an artist living in the UK and I create work that challenges my viewers to take a deeper look into their own place in nature and the effect that their actions have on the environment that we are all a part of.
My work uses aesthetically arresting installation, sculpture, projection, paint and a wide range of other media to display scenes or aspects of real ecological disasters. My intention is that without explanation of the work (outside of this website) my viewers find beauty and interest first and a more meaningful realisation of the subject matter later.
I often use controversial materials in the creation of my work (electricity, oil bi-products, chemical sprays, etc...) as a way to highlight the way our modern view of beauty has become twisted from the natural to the unnatural, and to further illuminate the growing rift between the world of material consumerism and the nature that surrounds and supports us.
